Whenever I try a wbtb or the love method and set an alarm the pressure of falling asleep at the same time I do normally so the alarm goes off at the right time always gives me insomnia and I can not fall asleep until I disable the alarm. Any advice on how to overcome this mental block would be greatly appreciated.

Struggling with insomnia during the WBTB technique can be frustrating. The disrupted sleep pattern can hinder its effectiveness. To address this, consider seeking support from a professional. If you're in Melbourne, remember to find a counsellor Melbourne who can provide guidance and strategies to improve your sleep quality and overall well-being.
If I'm reading this correctly you're saying that the pressure of having to be asleep by a certain time for the WBTB to be effective is causing insomnia?
I was having a similar trouble a few days ago - I tend to have a decent prospective memory regarding alarms (waking up just before them) which seemed to prevent me falling asleep when the time was too close. One thing I found helped for me was visualising switching off the alarm after I set it, and more recently I've tried setting the alarm well in advance (since I know when I'm heading to bed) and doing some meditation before I sleep to calm my thoughts.
I seem to have had reasonable to success at falling asleep normally since then, and I hope something works for you!
All I can say is to try and move as little as possible, open your eyes as little as possible, and not look at bright lights and try to stay as tired as possible. Im not an expert on this but this is the advice Ive heard online.
