I've asked the folks at Enchanted Wave if they'd mind if I shared a bit of info about "the device" that Daniel has mentioned in a few of his videos and live streams and they've graciously agreed!
There's been 3 test groups so far for the device and I'm in group 3. I just received my device the other day - the device is an EEG headband, as you can see in the video below and on their site. The headband along with their data processing allows for very accurate determination of REM and your sleep cycle in general. Pair this with a (currently) iOS app, and you can use this information to become a useful tool for lucid dreaming explorers like us! The app is a work in progress and they are very receptive to new ideas from the testers, and are currently working hard on new features and improvements with every new version of the app. As seen in the video on their site below, there's a selectable audio cue for when REM is detected, a dynamic volume feature to determine the optimal volume to play the cues, a WBTB alarm as well as some of the popular techniques, like a guided SSILD (that I'm going to try tonight). There's other features as well, but this should give you a good idea of where it's headed.
My quick "after unboxing" video:
Link to their site - check out the page then click the "Dreamy Cue" Project link at the top for a video about all the current features (as of a few weeks ago - there've been additions!):

You can also search the r/LucidDreaming/ reddit group for "enchanted" to see a few posts with some more info from months back.
Very exciting stuff!
Sooo whats your opinion on this device? works every time?
Just to clarify, to anyone who is considering applying directly with Enchanted Wave - please don't. Those who apply without being referred will not be included in the testing group, as there is currently a waiting list. You might appear to be accepted initially, as they are very trusting and lovely developers - but they have asked me to directly hand-pick testers, and refer them. They will also be checking with me directly if each individual has been referred. By applying directly, you could essentially be putting yourself right at the bottom of the waiting list. The first devices have already found testers, but there will be another group picked in the near future. The correct application procedure will be made clear when there are spaces. Please don't be tempted to queue jump, because it confuses matters, creates exra work, and is definitely not a way to get hold of the device early - as it will tag you as someone who doesn't follow the procedures - which as you can imagine, is really very important when testing a device like this.
Well done Jeff. This is exactly why I wanted our community to help them develop a genuinely useful tool. Things are definitely heading very much in that direction.
They just implemented a "REM exit alert" feature that I suggested! If it works as I was hoping, it will wake you up after an REM period, helping you to have the best chance for dream recall from that period!
I'm so jealous! But please keep updating us on what happens with the test!
Ah cool, I wondered who around here was also testing!
Still waiting patiently for mine to arrive, took ages in customs then missed a delivery yesterday 🙄
