One thing I really like to talk about with fellow oneironauts is their dreams. ALL dreams, not just the lucid ones! Because even regular dreams are something amazing. Besides, talking about the non-lucid ones can help us find our dream signs, which in turn should help us have more lucid dreams. So I thought that this thread could be a place where we share our dreams, both lucid and non-lucid. I'll go first, but I would loooove for other people to chime in! In my own dream reports, I will include my dream signs. Dream #1: Sometimes, I'm very very prone to dream seeds. I got a fitness tracker for my birthday – which also has an option for sleep analysis that I do not blindly trust. But I'll compare my notes to it for a while; it'll be interesting to see similarities and differences.
Anyway: the first night I wore it, I had the following dream:
I'm in some kind of futuristic sleep lab, waiting for my appointment. There are two huge computers: one of them records and analyses sleep in great detail, the other induces guaranteed lucid dreams. [ dream sign: dreaming about sleep and LD ] This takes an insane amount of preparation and computing power, which is why people can not run the necessary programs on their home computers.
But it is common for dreamers to book time in one of these specialized sleep labs. Lucid dreaming has become one of the most popular hobbies, because the world is not a good place to live anymore – the city I can see from the window is bleak and decrepit, with signs of rather recent destruction.
Labs like this one have popped up everywhere, though not all of them are legit and safe. I have only booked sleep analysis to help me with my lucid dreaming practise, not one of the "have a lucid dream tonight" sessions – but there has been some kind of mixup and they are all set up for the LD special. They assure me that I don't need to pay more, because it was their mistake, and I'm curious.
Scene change. [ any break in dream continuity is a dream sign for me ] I don't know what happened. Am I in a dream, or have I left the lap and gone outside, after all? It looks like I am on the street that I saw through the window. Suddenly, there are gunshots, and people run past, laughing wildly, before jumping into the air and flying away. Oh. Is this some sort of war game? I think it is shared dreaming. [ I blame Inception. ] Suddenly I'm afraid. What if there are real consequences of what's happening here?
Change of dream conditions: I suddenly know that the world is at war, only the war is completely fought in the dream world. Oh God, I'm not safe here! I jump into the air and fly away, hoping not to get shot down – it's working, it's working, I'm not getting...
I'm awake.
Sometimes fake lucids are a tad bit interesting. Had this one a few nights ago and have been debating on sharing it.
The dream starts out in this dark area where everything is kind of hard to see. The dream also starts in third person, as I can see myself walking out of this area (which, kinda seems like a cave, but, more on that later). As I'm viewing myself walking out of this cave, I can see I'm wearing a white shirt with the infamous word on it. This triggers "lucidity".
I get out of the area and there is a bit of a jump, as I'm still in 3rd person but, I'm about a few feet/yards away from the fence in my grandmother's yard. I start controlling the water from the river behind it (she has a fence up in case of flooding for a high tide) while looking towards her house, so my back is turned to the water. The dream is still very dark. I start making the water into two massive cones (probably around 10-12 even 15 feet high) and charge them with electricity, illuminating them along with part of me.
Another skip and I'm in my house. I don't remember the particular details, but, I might have ran from my grandmother's house to mine. I'm also now in 1st person and will remain in 1st person for the rest of the dream. What I do know is that someone is chasing me who has the same powers as me. I also feel like I'm partly someone else bit still myself.
I go into the left bedroom and go into the bathroom, trying to think of how to get out of this. I think that, in order to get away, I would need to be someone without powers. I change into someone (this will also be brought up later), jump out the window into a roll, and somehow get back inside into the same bedroom, crawling by the person who was chasing me, them not noticing anything was off. I believe that I exit the room and start running down the hallway, but, I'm not quite certain. Dream ends and I wake up.
Now that I'm looking back at the dream, I may have an idea about where the dream actually started. There's a place at my grandmother's house where there's this slim right triangular area that you could walk under. Hindsight is 20/20, but, that location is a few seconds of walking time away from where the next part of the dream was.
Another thing to note is that it felt like I was taking in character's and people's appearances when I would use their powers. For example, when I'm uncertain if I had just ran to my house, I believe I looked like myself but also a bit like the Flash. With each new power, I was like a chimera of sorts.
Third note - the person I was near the end I've been before in other dreams. I've only been him 2 other times, one of which was in another fake lucid back in January. I also became him to try and avoid people knowing I was me. The other dream where I was him was back in 2017 (and is the dream that I've started attributing to me becoming interested in dreams, but, not the point). Just found that interesting.
TL:DR - BRUHILD almost works, causes a fake lucid in which someone chases me for having the same weird chimera powers as them. Also contains a weird fake-lucid quirk that may be a dream seed, but, I'm not 100% sure.
