Hi Dreamers,
Tomorrow I'll be talking with one of the team who designs and upgrades the software behind this forum.
So, if you have any ideas for improvements or updates, please leave them below.
This isn't a place to discuss the ideas or themes of the forum content, more the practical needs for the forum software, and features themselves.
So, If you've noticed any problems or would like a new feature or integration, that kind of thing.
Importantly don't just focus on the what but also WHY
This is a chance to make a difference in how the forum evolves and future features, and a rare opportunity to be heard by the people who are in a position to make those changes. Remember if someone posts an idea you agree with, upvote the comment so it's obvious which features and ideas are popular.
I thought it would be great to have a section for lucid dreaming challenges. Something where anyone could create a challenge and where everyone could be part of a challenge. With no rules or limitations, just for fun and competition.
This would be awesome!
Up for that as soon as I can get lucid again! :)
I don't know why but it always seems a little slow to navigate from say the notifications back to the forum, might be me
Thank you for sharing your frustration! I will forward this to devs. The performance is one of the main focuses here in Wix. We are experimenting with new functionalities, features improvements a lot, and this might affect the performance time by time.
Also, as there are getting quite a few threads on the forum, to have them sectioned might be useful so you can quickly navigate around to topics that interest you at that point, might future proof it a bit better? That's the experience I like in technical forums I use for work, I'm fairly new to the Reddit style with upvoting...I feel so old!
Nice idea for forum owner 🤓
The notification bell doesn't seem to work on my iPhone so I can't get to comments etc on threads I'm involved with. On the mobile platform it's also a bit tricky to see the divisions between threads when trying to reply on one (could be my old, old eyes though!)
In my browser, I can't see the notifications until I actually click the bell. Definitely not a huge problem, but I thought I'd mention it in case there's an easy fix.
Edit: The number showing by the bell sign seems to change from one second to the next, if I first click the bell and then navigate to another page, the number of notifications shown are wildly different. Again, definitely not a major problem, just something I've noticed!
@DanWright hi, what exactly happens to your notification bell? And some good news regarding mobile version UI: in few weeks the new version will appear that will involve bugs fixes and the UI :) So the interface is expected to be more compact and more clear.
@kikorangi 8, are you talking about desktop or mobile notifications? Well, seeing notifications only when clicking on the bell is the expected behaviour.
Would you let me know where/ how would you like to see your notifications so it will let me understand your need better?
I understand you regarding the number signifier of the bell. This glitch happens time by time in deed. Let me stress this to devs. Thank you so much!
Someone in the chat was hoping that somehow the Telegram chat could be incorporated into the website.
I'd like this as you can then quickly discuss topics between the two, might encourage a lot of the 'chatters' to engage on the Forum also.
I've added this functionality now. You should now see a Telegram web app at the bottom of every page on the forum. This will allow you to use the chat and forum at the same time.
@The Lucid Guide brilliant, about to try it for the first time
Maybe I'm just blind, but the main content of the whole homepage (including the forum and all the interesting theory) seems to be only accessible when scrolling down the "Home" section quite a bit. It might be better/more intuitive to link a shortcut to the forum and other sites of the webpage in the navigation bar.
It's in the "resources" menu, also the eye logo at the top right is a shortcut to the forum homepage. Alternatively, you could bookmark the forum so you have a direct link. I've done this on my phone so I have an icon that takes me straight there.
I'm noticing an annoying tendency for the Telegram login box to steal focus and scroll the page all the way down to the bottom of every forum topic I try to load, forcing me to click outside the telephone number box and manually scroll back up again just to read the forum. I'm afraid that's going to get old really fast.
Also, this forum in general seems unusually JavaScript- and CSS-heavy and always loads noticeably sluggishly on my desktop computer, particularly in Firefox-based browsers (Chromium/Chrome are much faster, though), even though nearly every other website/forum I regularly visit and my connection speed are fine.
Unfortunately, I can't do anything about either of those issues Tev. The only solution would be to remove the Telegram chat will need to be removed from the forum, but it was added by request from other members. As for load times, I'm not experiencing that particular issue but then my PC is reasonably high end and I tend to stick with Chromium-based browsers. Again, these are things that hopefully the forum hosts can improve but it's out of my control. Hopefully, Greta will answer you on the second point, she's our representative for the forum host. I believe they have a forum update coming in the next week, so that may improve the overall user experience.
Hi, @tev, I understand your frustration. Wix is aware of users' dissatisfaction regarding performance, which is our main focus to improve.
I will emphasize your feedback to the team.
On the other hand, if you've been using the forum on the mobile web too, there is some joyful news: in few weeks we'll release the new mobile version which is expected to work faster and look more pleasant. Let me know if you'd like to participate in our VALIDATION research where we will invite most active mobile users to evaluate new prototypes and share feedback, so it will let us know if we did a good work :)
Thanks for the feedback, Daniel and Greta. It's good to see that issues like performance are being worked on. I still mainly use desktop as my primary platform of using the web, as I've never found myself a fan of mobile UIs in general, particularly in use cases like forums that involve a significant amount of text composition.
As for the Telegram thing, I just realized that I have an extension in my browser that allows disabling the loading of that specific part of the page on my end so that it doesn't get in the way.
