One thing I really like to talk about with fellow oneironauts is their dreams. ALL dreams, not just the lucid ones! Because even regular dreams are something amazing. Besides, talking about the non-lucid ones can help us find our dream signs, which in turn should help us have more lucid dreams. So I thought that this thread could be a place where we share our dreams, both lucid and non-lucid. I'll go first, but I would loooove for other people to chime in! In my own dream reports, I will include my dream signs. Dream #1: Sometimes, I'm very very prone to dream seeds. I got a fitness tracker for my birthday – which also has an option for sleep analysis that I do not blindly trust. But I'll compare my notes to it for a while; it'll be interesting to see similarities and differences.
Anyway: the first night I wore it, I had the following dream:
I'm in some kind of futuristic sleep lab, waiting for my appointment. There are two huge computers: one of them records and analyses sleep in great detail, the other induces guaranteed lucid dreams. [ dream sign: dreaming about sleep and LD ] This takes an insane amount of preparation and computing power, which is why people can not run the necessary programs on their home computers.
But it is common for dreamers to book time in one of these specialized sleep labs. Lucid dreaming has become one of the most popular hobbies, because the world is not a good place to live anymore – the city I can see from the window is bleak and decrepit, with signs of rather recent destruction.
Labs like this one have popped up everywhere, though not all of them are legit and safe. I have only booked sleep analysis to help me with my lucid dreaming practise, not one of the "have a lucid dream tonight" sessions – but there has been some kind of mixup and they are all set up for the LD special. They assure me that I don't need to pay more, because it was their mistake, and I'm curious.
Scene change. [ any break in dream continuity is a dream sign for me ] I don't know what happened. Am I in a dream, or have I left the lap and gone outside, after all? It looks like I am on the street that I saw through the window. Suddenly, there are gunshots, and people run past, laughing wildly, before jumping into the air and flying away. Oh. Is this some sort of war game? I think it is shared dreaming. [ I blame Inception. ] Suddenly I'm afraid. What if there are real consequences of what's happening here?
Change of dream conditions: I suddenly know that the world is at war, only the war is completely fought in the dream world. Oh God, I'm not safe here! I jump into the air and fly away, hoping not to get shot down – it's working, it's working, I'm not getting...
I'm awake.
Sometimes fake lucids are a tad bit interesting. Had this one a few nights ago and have been debating on sharing it.
The dream starts out in this dark area where everything is kind of hard to see. The dream also starts in third person, as I can see myself walking out of this area (which, kinda seems like a cave, but, more on that later). As I'm viewing myself walking out of this cave, I can see I'm wearing a white shirt with the infamous word on it. This triggers "lucidity".
I get out of the area and there is a bit of a jump, as I'm still in 3rd person but, I'm about a few feet/yards away from the fence in my grandmother's yard. I start controlling the water from the river behind it (she has a fence up in case of flooding for a high tide) while looking towards her house, so my back is turned to the water. The dream is still very dark. I start making the water into two massive cones (probably around 10-12 even 15 feet high) and charge them with electricity, illuminating them along with part of me.
Another skip and I'm in my house. I don't remember the particular details, but, I might have ran from my grandmother's house to mine. I'm also now in 1st person and will remain in 1st person for the rest of the dream. What I do know is that someone is chasing me who has the same powers as me. I also feel like I'm partly someone else bit still myself.
I go into the left bedroom and go into the bathroom, trying to think of how to get out of this. I think that, in order to get away, I would need to be someone without powers. I change into someone (this will also be brought up later), jump out the window into a roll, and somehow get back inside into the same bedroom, crawling by the person who was chasing me, them not noticing anything was off. I believe that I exit the room and start running down the hallway, but, I'm not quite certain. Dream ends and I wake up.
Now that I'm looking back at the dream, I may have an idea about where the dream actually started. There's a place at my grandmother's house where there's this slim right triangular area that you could walk under. Hindsight is 20/20, but, that location is a few seconds of walking time away from where the next part of the dream was.
Another thing to note is that it felt like I was taking in character's and people's appearances when I would use their powers. For example, when I'm uncertain if I had just ran to my house, I believe I looked like myself but also a bit like the Flash. With each new power, I was like a chimera of sorts.
Third note - the person I was near the end I've been before in other dreams. I've only been him 2 other times, one of which was in another fake lucid back in January. I also became him to try and avoid people knowing I was me. The other dream where I was him was back in 2017 (and is the dream that I've started attributing to me becoming interested in dreams, but, not the point). Just found that interesting.
TL:DR - BRUHILD almost works, causes a fake lucid in which someone chases me for having the same weird chimera powers as them. Also contains a weird fake-lucid quirk that may be a dream seed, but, I'm not 100% sure.
Okay, tonight @The Lucid Guide visited me and my wife and we were sitting in the living room. Nobody did know what to talk about. It was a bit embarrassing so I forced a conversation and started to talk in English. Never did this before in my dreams. It was a non-lucid dream but I'm excited how good I could think about what I wanted to say and translate it in my mind.
I only forgot the English word for "Pilze" so I asked my wife and she said "mushrooms",which is correct.
Anyway, when Daniel was sitting in my living room and we talked about Patrick Jane (The Mentalist), I thought this is somehow strange - so I did a nose pinch test. It actually worked! But I did not became lucid. SMEG!
So, could it be that it failed because I do RCs in waking life a bit lazy? Or does this happen from time to time and is perfectly normal.
I can't remember the nose pinch test to ever fail in my dreams...
I'm jealous, what a fun dream! Not gonna lie, I had to try the hand signal … 😂 Hey, you should see the movie "Alien", it's a real classic by now!
Alright, let's try and revive this thread, shall we?
Last night I was walking out of this massive building, walking down the stairs and onto the grass. It looks a lot like a college I went on a field trip years ago. To my left there's another building of the same height and long. I look up into the sky and I see something approaching me.
I go in the general direction of this object and fly up a bit to meet my alien friend. He's on this motorcycle and I tell him that I'm happy to see him again. Time skip and we're in this restaurant with other people.
The question is brought up about why he's here and replies that his girlfriend either left him or cheated on him. He also says that he doesn't feel comfortable on his race's main constellation of Nebulous. When asked about other places he can go - and where he's originally from - he replies that his home (which sounds a lot like the name "Easter Island but make it spacey) was destroyed by war and I see a quick glimpse of fire when imagining what happened to him. His ex is also at the restaurant, sitting beside me. She looks like a Pikachu wearing either a scarf or a bandana.
We leave the restaurant and to the left is this small basketball court, to the right it just seems like an average neighborhood street. He contemplates teaching us about powers his kind have. Even though we're humans, we can still use it.
We all scatter around the court (which is a half court size, since it only has one hoop) and he teaches us the method to summon the type of motorcycle that he was on earlier. He says you can relate the name to a basketball team. He shows the hand signal to summon the motorcycle/start the process and its the right hand over left, palms together, with the pinky and pointer touching at the tips and the middle and ring finger touching at the first knuckle, thumbs touching completely. You also have to say the word to start the process.
Since I already know how to do it, I change and suddenly I'm wearing this formal suit. The two people behind me (there's about 10 people in total on the court and most are in front of me) start judging me about what I'm wearing and I kinda scuff it off, leaning up against an imaginary wall. Everyone does the process and changes to wearing darker clothing.
The alien tells us to line up in a line to get us use to summoning the motorcycles. Since I already know how to do it, I'm to the side, doing spins of the motorcycle. He says that I need to watch to see if anyone needs help. Everyone summons their motorcycles and goes up the court and then loops around to the end of the line. There's a quick scene where we're all flying before another skip occurs.
We're all back at my house where the alien decides that to hone our new found powers, we should play a game of hide and seek. He explains that we have to stay on the property but we can teleport somewhere else for up to ten seconds. He explains that up to 10 seconds should be fair and that teleporting can have risks, like teleportating under or in something. He uses snow as an example. I think about hiding by the mailbox.
He gets a notifications that he needs to head back to his world immediately but that he should be back soon. My father asks him about a painting that he gave and the alien says that he still has it and is taking care of it (the painting in question isn't my father's but a painting at an art auction that I went to a few months ago). My dad says that he's willing to give him another when he returns and that he will have instructions on how to take care of it. The painting is of a golf course. And then I wake up.
This dream was very vivid and don't think that I wasn't disappointed when I tried the summoning process after I woke up. I risked the rest of sleep I had taking notes on this dream as I wanted to fall back asleep into it. An interesting thing is that I wrote "repeat dream character" due to the false memories I had in the dream, even though this is the first dream with this alien dude in it.
There was tons of things that influenced it, like the name of the process actually being a type of alien from the movie Alien (which I haven't seen, only heard about it from a 30 second video on YouTube about keyboards). Others include the Pikachu, my outfit and overall look at that point in the dream, and the flying.
This night, I came very close to a lucid dream:
I wake up, loll around in bed and think about whether I should get up already or rather fall asleep again and hope for an LD. That's when the door opens and my husband walks in — in his underwear, but with a clunky night vision device on his head.
At first, I think he bought it because he often goes out at night with his telescope to look at the stars. But this doesn't make sense. I say: "You are not planning to go outside in your underwear, are you? Bit cold for that..." He says, "But I'm not even here." Whaaaa....?! False awakening! The shock jolts me out of sleep.
False awakenings are often my ticket to lucidity, but it has been over three months since my last lucid, and I think I got overly excited.
So, I had a lucid the night before last night. Luckily, I had my phone beside me, so, I managed to write down it as soon as I woke up at 5:11 in the morning. I apologize for any grammer mistakes as I wrote this as soon as I woke up and am just copying and pasting it into here.
---
Woke up in bed, decided to do an RC because the thought came into my mind. I did nose pinch first and, when I placed my fingers on my nose, I couldn't see my hand. I knew something was off as it felt like my nose was below my mouth. I went to go do the next part of my RC routine, but, I didn't have to, because when I tried taking my hand away from my nose, it stretched to where I could see it. Yea, this is a dream.
I kinda shouted that I was lucid before getting up from bed and walking into the living room, which has not only one Christmas tree (which we haven't put up yet), but several placed in weird places (note for myself, one was between the TV and fireplace, the others were replacing the TV box). The first Christmas tree has presents and a little village under it, all with the theme green. All the trees are lit up, so, it's a bit of a surprise that I see my father on the couch, sleeping. I think I try to wake him up, but, he doesn't. Me, having some clarity to my thoughts, tries to change my appearance, trying to start up the chain of my dream goals. I fail.
I go to the front door and go outside, waking up my father. He comes to the front door and yells "what are you doing!" I decide to try changing my appearance again (fail), flying (not a total fail, just higher jumps), and super speed (success). I sprint out of the yard and slow down, since my speed wasn't something too crazy. I start walking to my left and pass by my neighbor's house, trying to change my appeal yet again, which failed. I don't know how I notice but there's this dude sitting in the neighbor's tree (I don't even think they have a tree there) and he's wearing all black. He asks what I'm doing and I explain, though the topic soon gets off track. I discover how to fly a little bit and go up to the neighbors across from them and fly up, me and this dude hovering in the air. He tells me he's from a different time and that what we were talking about (a band named Fall Out Boy) doesn't exist in his world, but, he does know about them because he's a dimension jumper (on the lines of that). In shock, I start naming the band members and songs, though the clearest one I remember asking about Folie a Deux, in which he takes out his phone and replies with "the military base?"
Then we're back on the ground, and, knowing that I'm having a lucid dream, he starts saying that I need a change of scenery in order to start setting up my dream goals. I go along with him and he starts trying to get me to fly. I'm struggling with getting up in the air and staying up, so, he suggests that I focus on what we were talking about before. I start humming some songs (Sugar We're Going Down, Headfirst Slide into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet (I think)) and I'm able to get into the air and stabilize. As I just hum more, I'm able to get higher in the air. He takes out this object (I'm torn between if it was a mirror or a hairbrush) and it starts glowing a tiny bit. I should state that this dream has been very dark, as even the Christmas trees were only casting a little light.
He says that I'm doing well and we aim up to go over the tree line on the opposite side of the road where we can get into my neighborhood. At this time, I'm higher than the trees by a long shot, but, I receive a text from my cousin. I was still aware that I was dreaming, but for some reason, I decided to just "pause" the dream and come back to it. I said "hey, give me a second, my cousin is texting me." As soon as I said that, my vision starts fading, my vision is on the ground again, and I struggle to hang on, until I can't. The dream ends and I check my phone in case my cousin did try and text me, but, she didn't.
---
So, that was the dream. I did leave out a few details, like the fact that when I was trying to change my appearance, I would jump in the air and do a spin. When I've changed my appearance before, I've done it with not much thought as it's mainly on emotion. As for the flying, it wasn't a Superman thing - it was almost like a witch riding a broom, except the broom was invisible.
Last night I got lucid and remembered to check if my dreambody has a heartbeat.
It turned out he has but don't tell my cardiologist. It was quite "a bit" out of sync.
Anyway, that was interesting.
Brains rule.
Next time I'll check if I can sweat.
Last night, I had another dream of the “If THIS doesn't make you RC, what will?!” variety:
The plot of the dream skips.
I actually have an interesting dream to report from last night!
The dream starts at the golf course that I normally play at. I'm at the intersection of holes 14 and 15 (more so closer to the green on 14 than the tee on 15) and there's a lot of people there and beds everywhere, though they are in neat lines (the beds are). I go onto Discord and somehow know I have to join a Discord group, even though I already have 3 I'm apart of. I look up groups related to a musical group and join it, only to get flustered/nervous and leave, joining another group which has only a handful of people which were active three days ago. I rejoin the former group and go over to my friend, who is laying in a bed. I look around and see other people setting up to fall asleep (now I'm basically in the fairway of 15, and there's a big group on the tees of 15). I assume I fall asleep because there is a time skip.
The next part starts with me and a group of people and a teacher figure (I have no idea who this dude was) on the cart path on 16. He has these scratch tickets and gives them to us for a lesson of some sort. I finish mine quickly and decide to walk down the cart path, passing the tee box for 17 (though it was a bit distorted looking). A guy follows me and we goof off a bit before I check to see if I have that ticket - I don't. I start jogging back and this guy just starts running on all fours as he almost falls into the ditch. We get back and there's another skip.
Now the interesting part starts. I'm in this somewhat fancy house that has a waterfront view into a harbor, though it's to the mouth of it. This house also has a backyard and I'm actually in the backyard, the leader of the Discord group having to leave because he's in trouble (the exact reason was unclear in the dream). Skip a tiny bit and the whole group is in the house, the leader turning on a playlist. I'm heading into the living room of this house when I "recognize" that the song playing is the newest from the musical group and I debate about if I should do a reality check or not. I see my friend in the room and I try going over to him to ask if I should do one (he's a lucid dreamer as well so sometimes we do talk about lucid dreaming). As I approach, I'm unable to find him and I don't do a reality check.
Time skip again and I'm in my local Target, walking around in cosplay. I see my friend and another person. I walk up to them and the cloak I'm wearing picks up a pen due to this type of "fold" it has on the bottom.
Last skip and I'm back at the house from earlier. Me and two others (a guy and a girl) are watching the water and the small, inflatable boat in front of us. I see a dolphin jump our of the water and it lingers in the air for a bit before falling back in. I ask the two if they saw that and if that's normal. They reply saying that it is and that there's no reason to worry. I see more dolphins (who now look more like mini orcas) jumping out of the water and getting higher in the air (hard to explain the high but, across the harbor there's skyscrapers. The dolphins, from my perspective, look like they are as high as the skyscrapers. In reality, I would say they were jumping about 20-30 feet in the air). I point this out and then this mass of something floats by, seeming like it's a dead baby orca. Me and the others follow it down to the dock at the house, stopping this mass from going down this tunnel that would lead into the actual harbor.
The guy says its a deflated boat, so, I get into the water to secure it to the dock. While in the water, me and the two joke about starting streaming careers, saying that we couldn't be as successful as the guy is. I get out of the water with a bit of help and I see the guy's eyes through his sunglasses.
We get in our boat and sit in it as the sunsets, music playing in the background. I'm still under the impression that this was the playlist from earlier but then the radio says "thanks for listening to London's top pop hits! Next is..." and I wake up.
After a longer dry spell this night was successful and disappointing at the same time. In my dream I was at work and wondering why everything looks a bit dreamlike. The whole atmosphere somehow was very magical! But, instead of becoming lucid I went to the toilet. Sitting there, I did a nose pinch test. It worked but I thought 'okay that's only because I'm sitting!'. So I stood up and did the test again. Now I couldn't breath through my pinched nose. The regular dream continued.
After waking up I made a drum roll and placed the "most stupid lucid dreamer trophy" in front of me. 🏆
Had THE shortest LD last night... but still an LD I guess? I think I was in a dream first, then everything went a solid grey color and I realized I was dreaming... I was excited about it, and just as things started to come into focus I had a false awakening, sort of - I thought my wife was standing beside the bed looking at me, my eyes were closed and I was snoring (which I may have been, I don't know) so I struggled to open my eyes to talk to her to see what she wanted, and managed to wake myself up (was an effort) to find no one there... This was early in the night, and still did a WBTB later and then SSILD but no luck :)
I had a lucid dream last night.
The dream starts with me (presumably) waking up in the backyard of this random house. The feeling I had about the location was that it was on this street that I'm somewhat often on and that the house was in the same clumping of where one of my old friend's house is, though it isn't her house. There's also no real clumping of houses present, but, my memory could be fuzzy. I also think I'm sleeping in a corner (so, up against the house) because there is shade present.
Anyway, I wake up to one of my cats on top of me, having birthed a kitten. I turn away for a second because the whole thing looks gross, but, I turn back around to see a second kitten. I notice something is off (I don't want to describe it because I'd rather spare you peeps from it) and I realize I'm dreaming.
Time/scenery skip (different place in the backyard) and I'm still in the backyard, still lucid. I do a reality check (I have a series I do with 3 in a row, in case one passes as reality) and notice I have 6 fingers on my left hand. My father asks me to water the garden and I try and find a water can, eventually summoning a watering can, though it takes multiple attempts before I do manage to get it. I don't remember if I fill it up with a hose or if I willed the water into existence (I'm feeling like it's the second one), but, I make my way over to the garden and the dream ends. The watering can I summoned was the one we actually have and the garden was bigger since there were no trees on the property in the dream
I would be more detailed with the dream but, it's been two hours since I've woke up, three since it happened (woke up right after it ended, fell back asleep). This is really the first time I could write it down, so, I apologize if it isn't all that detailed compared to my other dreams.
As a side note, I did have a lucid sometime last week, though I think I had lost lucidity during the dream due to dream plot. The two dream locations are three minutes away from each other and both had touched the same street. Two of my other lucid dreams (same night/REM cycle, just a few months ago) were in the same area. Using this, that location may be my biggest dream sign for lucids, as a good amount start from there.
Ha, you may be right! Well, I wouldn't say I know how it works to be honest, but more how it feels... If you know what I mean. Let's see if it works then.
Tonight I manged it for the first time ever to turn sleep paralysis into a lucid dream.
I have sleep paralysis quite often but that's not a problem for me. It's more that I really like and love to explore it.
So, tonight I woke up with the typical bodily sensations and tried hard to just stand up and probably be in a lucid dream. The first attempt failed as I simply fell asleep. Short time later I woke up with SP again and this time, after some minutes of hard work, I finally stood up, did a nose pinch test and was in a lucid dream. VERY excited about it I lost this dream quickly and woke up. Anyway, now I know it's possible and how it works. Can't wait for my upcoming SP 😁
We're playing a game of Minesweeper – not on the computer, though, but in real tunnels, huge abandoned factory buildings and other lost places. We are unsure: does this mean that the mines are also real? Could we die? But we're doing fine so far, nobody has triggered a mine yet...
[Dream sign: I dream of playing computer games "in real life" sometimes. Which is odd, because I don't really play computer games much.]
Thus far, there is no "I" or "them", just "we". We are like a pack, a swarm, a pride, a murder of wild animals, moving like one. Then the youngest of us takes a careless step, we hold our breath – but all that happens is a loud bang and a puff of coloured dust. So this is what
happens when you trigger a mine. We're relieved.
But what the heck are we wearing?! Clothes that look like cheap "miner" Halloween costumes. Thin fabric, awful cut. But it's OK, this is just for the audition.
Audition? Audition for what?! I'm confused. I thought this was just a game, like a sort of LARP combined with minesweeper.
But no, somebody tells me. This is the audition for the new show by RTL. [RTL is a German television network that airs a lot of really campy reality TV stuff.] WHAT?! But... This is not something I want to be part of! I'm in the wrong place. I'm NOT a celebrity, get me out of here!
I'm looking for the exit, but the building is large and dark, we only have one very weak lamp whose light doesn't reach far. The others huddle around it and stare at me, and there's something malignant in their gaze. I'm not part of the pack anymore. Here, the dream ends.
[Dream sign: this falls under "unexpected conflict", which is one of my most frequent dream signs.]
Interesting dream last night (mostly from the beginning of it).
The "dream" starts from the precieved ending of another dream, where I am trying to maintain "lucidity" and trying to stay asleep. This is classic "dream self thinks she's lucid" behavior, but, something I've done with true lucids as well. I'm trying to maintain sleep as I can sort of hear what I thought was outside nosies as I slip into hypnopompia, random images flashing by as well as random thoughts. I'm fighting against these thoughts as I'm trying to form a dream to how I want it to be and, after some fighting against the "hypnopompia", I awake into the dream.
I'm on this balcony/patio mix, sleeping on the wooden floor with only a blanket over me. The room doesn't have any walls but has railings around the perimeter, a glass sliding door connecting the main building to this "L" shaped room. I instantly notice something is off with how I wanted the dream to go as I'm not fully who I want to be, but, a different version of them (it's a genderbent version of this particular character, so, instead of being the amle version, I was the female version). I reach for my phone and see I got a text from one of my group mates, asking what room I'm in. I text back "room 404" though, I have no idea what room I'm in and just make up the number. I hear my group mate - "G" - walking around before texting me back, saying that it's not the correct room. I text back to him the description of the room and I peak out of my blanket, trying to fix my hair to make it seem like nothing is wrong. I see G open the door and walk in, him being a different version of himself too.
I should probably give some context to this as it would probably help. I'm talking about one of my D&D games again and these different "versions" are what are DM just plopped down on us randomly one day. It's also partly the reason why the game ended which is why I keep thinking about the topic. Again, this only adds to the theory that anxiety/constant thinking about a topic spills into dreams. Anyway, back to the dream.
He notices and helps me up, comforting me that it'll all go back to normal eventually. I hug him and he suggests that we should do something to pass the time and I reply that we should go get drinks (something in character for him, not for me). He agrees (though he says he won't drink since he's canonically 20) and we go to two vehicles (a car and a truck) along with two other group mates - "A" and "R" (again, a different version of themselves).
We get to the restaurant (time skip) and my car pulls up to the right of the truck, G being in the passenger seat while I'm also in the passenger seat? (For explanation purposes, I live where the driver's side is on the left. The truck applied these standards but the car I was in had the driver's side on the right. Me and G were in the respective passenger seats in both vehicles). R - who was driving me - says that we have to park somewhere else since the parking spot is too small so we drive to the side of the restaurant and park there, G worrying about me.
We walk into the restaurant and become our normal everyday selves. The waitress gives everyone menus and gives me the kid's menu, in which I hand pack, saying that just because I look 12, I'm actually (my age). She chuckles and hands me the main menu and I go to sit at the circular table in the middle of the room.
The dream pretty much ends there in terms of what might be interesting, but, two kids start running around the restaurant and then this guy with a flute comes in. My friends start talking about politics and ask me to join in, which I don't. One of my friends (the one whose character was "A") gets up and I move over to where he was, sitting besides the friend whose character was G. The dream then ends with everyone laughing as "A" comes back.
The dream was heavily dream seeded, as the topic of the dream is mostly from anxiety. Not only this, but, the room from the start of the dream was somewhat dream seeded from a YouTube video I watched yesterday. The restaurant bit could be a dream seed from a dream I had the other night where this same group of people and me were in a restaurant talking things out and having a good time. The flute guy was also a dream seed as I remember thinking about the flute in a song I was listening to yesterday.
This one was most likely yet another dream in response to the "main character syndrome" video!
I'm living in the world of "Never let me go". [excellent book, haven't watched the movie]
I'm a student at Hailsham. We are told that we are special, we are important – but like everybody else there, I'm a clone. It's my pre-determined fate to donate all my organs, one by one, in the course of my life, until I "complete" aka die. We are indoctrinated to think of this as the utmost level of meaning a life can have. [This is basically straight out of the novel.]
We are going on a hike, as part of our fitness regime. [ever since I started working out, my dreams use any excuse to include fitness, health and sports] We are supposed to be as healthy as possible, for obvious reasons. After a while, our 'carers' tell us to go back to the school to rest, but when we get there, the building is grey and dilapidated. Nobody knows what to think and what could have happened to make it look like that within the timespan of a hike. [schools are a dream sign for me] Before we can decide whether to go in, it suddenly looks just like that famous picture of Auschwitz, taken shortly after its liberation in 1945. [subtlety is not my dreams' strong point]
Now, we are not students anymore. We are prisoners. But have we not been prisoners the whole time? [sudden change in the established world of the dream = dream sign] Once a week, we're 'allowed' to watch movies in the common room that show us the happy, but frail lives of "real people". We are the chosen ones who get the privilege of protecting them. I don't want to die, but I know how selfish that makes me.
Ok here's one I had just before waking up today - A co-worker was over at my house doing some yardwork (for some reason) - I saw him digging something at the edge of the property, didn't find this odd in any way. I was digging at a brick on the walkway to the back door, just a small hole, a few inches/cm deep. Suddenly it changes and I'm digging into a tunnel, about 2 feet square going in maybe 10 feet! I think I'm throwing dirt into this tunnel to fill it and see something move under the dirt a little ways in... Is that a goat? It shakes off the dirt and comes out to me and it's a dog... then a few other lumps shake off dirt and come forward and are a smaller dog and yet another smaller dog... The end :)
I feel like I'm posting my own dreams way too often here – please share your dreams, fellow Oneironauts!
I had two short lucid dream tonight (without doing a RC) where I remembered to watch my environment carefully. I did so and I was quite surprised how detailed everything was. I was in a city with lots of high buildings around me. These buildings looked amazing. All with different colours and thousands of windows. Lots of trees weeping in the wind.
Did a nose pinch test and woke up shortly after it.
Later that night I had another short LD but nothing special happened. I just wondered why I have another one 😅
I'm not sure if tonight's dream was also influenced by the "main character sydrome" video, or if it just reflects the perfectly normal struggle to fit in that I'm sure everybody experiences sometimes.
I'm a preternatural being, my human form is but an illusion. I hide my true form, spiderlike, because I don't want to stand out — I want to belong, I want to be part of the “normal” human race. Then I meet a woman who is exactly like me, we are of the same kind. Only she wears her true form with pride, as often as possible, and doesn't understand why I don't do the same.
We walk through the city and talk. She has many suggestions for how I might embrace and celebrate my heritage, I feel completely steamrolled and try to deflect. She takes this as an affront and demands that I show myself in my true form in public, speaks of banners and posters and fliers, and I say: stop it, stop it, stop it! But she doesn't hear me … I run away and manage to lose her.
I watched Daniel's livestream on friday. He mentioned reality shifters and how they all want to go to Hogwarts. Ever since I learned about reality shifting, I've had numerous Hogwarts dreams. See, you're only dreaming. (I read the Harry Potter books multiple times years ago.) But of course, I know that they are just dreams, and I'm not actually shifting to another dimension …
One of my dreams the following night:
I'm a student in Hogwarts. [dream sign] Professor Snape is in an oddly good mood, not quite as toxic. The whole school is getting remodelled and students are assigned to new rooms. Instead of the cosy bedrooms for two to four students, we now sleep in large groups in attic rooms. Huge. Bare. Bleak. And we are so many — is everybody from this grade here, in one room? It's not comfortable at all.
Why are there Gryffindor colours all over my things? I'm a Ravenclaw! …or am I?
Suddenly, I'm in the great hall. [dream sign: time jump / location change] We're having lunch, and I talk to Ron and Hermione about vegetarian food. [dream sign: health / nutrition]
Another jump. Now we're having PE. (In Hogwarts? Why can't I at least have flying lessons?!) I have to admit to myself that I'm not as fit as I thought I was. Here, the dream unravels a bit. It's not really about Hogwarts any more, it veers into one of the “normal” fitness dreams I've been having ever since I started to exercise every day. [dream sign: fitness]
Jump. That's right, I'm a Hogwarts student, now I remember! I'm in Hogsmeade, and there are muggles everywhere. I'm so sad, so terribly sad. Hogwarts will get closed soon, forever, and nobody seems to care. Even here, in Hogsmeade, I don't see any wizards or witches any more. I'm not supposed to let muggles know about the magical world, but I HAVE to talk to somebody about it. Somebody HAS to know that Hogwarts exists and soon will cease to exist, and what a tragedy that is.
I break the rules by accosting muggles and telling them about it, but they just look at me as if I'm crazy. [it feels just like telling a dream character that it is a dream / dream sign: communication problems] But it's too late anyway...
Even though Hogwarts will close soon, we still have homework to do. I've prepared a presentation about project management (for muggle studies, or what?), but it's pitiful, not up to par. [must be because my waking self knows zilch about project management / dream sigh: failure to meet expectations] I am trying to rework and improve the presentation, but letters are jumping around, words are in the wrong places, I can't read any of it. [dream sign: inability to read]
Here, the dream ended.
One of my non-lucids was 100% daytime residue.
Somebody offers me a device that allows you to not only determine REM phases exactly, but that has a lot of functions that help induce lucid dreams. At first, I think it's the DreamyQ / Enchanted Wave (see the thread here for more info about that) and I'm confused why it has a different name. But it also looks very different, the description sounds very fishy, and for some reason you're supposed to drill it into the ground (??). It practically screams "I'm a scam!", but people fall for it anyway, because they also think it's the DreamyQ. Then I get the real DreamyQ, but I just can't figure out the correct settings in the corresponding app. It just doesn't work like it's supposed to. Am I too stupid, or does the app have a malfunction? Either way, a reality test moment that I don't recognize as such.
Because I felt a bit disheartened – dry spell! –, I took a look at my statistics for the last two months. In that time, I've had:
8 non-lucids that were about (lucid) dreaming.
1 lucid where I woke up almost immediately after getting lucid – because my WBTB alarm rang.
1 semi-lucid dream where I realized that I was dreaming, but not the full consequences of that.
Not to forget:
5 non-lucids where I was a detective
4 dystopian non-lucids that were like movies
Well, at least that's not nothing, right? Right?
Non-lucid: I'm a campaign worker, it's shortly before the election. The elderly politician that I'm assigned to has been oddly distracted lately. Eventually, he confides in me that somebody told him that he had an illegitimate child, a little girl. [dream sign: children] Some years ago, he had a short-lived fling with the mother, nothing serious, and he hasn't been in contact with her since, doesn't know where she lives or even her full name. So he doesn't know how to find out if it's true. He has been told the child has down syndrome, but he doesn't care about that – if she is his child, he wants to be in her life, period. [Aww...] He dispenses me from my usual work as part of the campaign team. Instead, he asks me to find the child, but that proves extremely difficult, because he can give me very little information about the mother. [dream sign: seemingly impossible task] Time jump. [dream sign] Our party wins the election, and the other party is oddly chill about it. They not only congratulate us, but they send us all the champagne that they now won't need. [dream sign: things being different from what they would be in real life] I don't know if I've ever found the child, this is where the dream ended.
For some reason I have a good time with dreaming since 2 weeks. Good recall and - for me - lots of lucid dreams.
Tonight I was in a forest on my way to a housing area and Hans Zimmer music was playing. I though it would be nice to do a reality check.
There was a red heart-shaped stone on the way. So I closed my eyes and looked again at it, now the stone was blue. I was extremely surprised that this was a dream! Did a quick nose pinch test to validate this. It worked!
I was quite overexcited and calmed down a bit. Now I touched some leaves to stabalize the dream a bit and decided to fly high and watch the scenery from above.
There were 3 big swimming pools and I thought it would be fun to let myself fall into one with high speed. Did it and with me in the water was a young boy and a woman. I realized the dream would end very soon so I shout out loud "I will dream more often!".
I did a lot of RCs yesterday and tried the SSILD technique. SSILD seems to work very well for me.
You really make me want to find a new D&D group... And I would really love to have a dream where I am my little halfling warrior who is as dumb as a potato sack but charming! She was a blast to play.
Sounds like a prompt for a reality test! 😋
Please do!
What did the edge of the dream look like, where things just black beyond that point?
That sounds like a very fun website! On the other hand, having somebody else design your dream doesn't feel like a very lucid thing to me – 'designing' my own dreams is a huge part of the wonder of LD to me. I love looking around and thinking: wow, I made all of this. Even when the dream is nothing special, design-wise!
I've had a few dreams where I was lucid but not lucid. When that happens, I'm so confused when I wake up! Wait, was I lucid or did I just dream of being lucid? For me, the defining thing is how my dream self reacts to realizing that she is lucid. If it's not a hyperreal, exciting OMG WOW moment, it's probably just a fake lucid.
I have unintentionally started writing down my dreams for the past 4 nights by either interacting on the forums or telling my friends if they were in it/if something cool happened. While I didn't write down my dream yesterday, it was cool and so was my dreams from last night. I'll write down the main one from last night as it was a bit odd (but in the best way possible) and the other one, as, both of them could be interesting to look at.
8/14/21 - The dream "starts" with "me" in this village in this beautiful forest, trees tall with small patches of light coming through. It seemed closed off to the world as I don't recall entering this place in hindsight. I'm myself, but, I'm also one of my D&D characters, as I have my own personality and know of the outside world besides the game, but, I have their appearance and "memories". This place seems euphoric and it gives me a sense of calmness as I move away from what I would call the center of the small town, the building I'm front of at the moment seeming like a shop made out of dark oak. I move to this small garden entrance and my vision kind of goes to 3rd person and I start talking to the DM (the one running the game, I'm sorry I'm a bit of a nerd). My character stands in the entrance looking at all the colorful flora, butterflies, and fairies flying around, the entrance having a white and beautifully curved entranceway. I'm still somewhat in character as I speak to the DM mentally, the DM asking me if I remember how I got here. I respond that I ate some cake and I appeared in this world (from the perspective of my character), which causes my character to remember that he's still a human in his original world. The DM strikes that down to me, saying that he was born in this world. I start getting angry, waking up confused, struggling to recall his original backstory.
This dream was dream seeded and though I won't go over all the dream seeds as those are personal, I was working on my cosplay of him earlier that day. I would also go over his backstory, but, this is a dream report so, I'll keep it short to clear up any confusion. He was born a human in the world, turned into a changeling (keeps his human appearance), and his world is dystopian, not euphoric as this one was. Also, this inspired me to draw part of this dream, so, I may post it on here once I'm finished with it.
8/15/21 - I start the dream in my garage as another character, my own counterpart from my book (though it's more like a disguise as I have my own mind and know that she is my own book character) I'm "aware" that I'm dreaming, so, I'm doing all of these "edits" to the dream. I debate about turning into another book character that I haven't been in a dream yet, but, I brush that idea aside, opting to try flying instead. I unfold my wings and take into the air to find out that it's like I'm moving through jelly. I land and change how big the dream is, changing the size to just compose of my house and my neighbor's house across the street. I take off again and discover that I'm moving way to fast and that I can see the edge of the dream, so, I land and change the size to be that of 1.5 blocks.
Time skip and I'm in the neighborhood park, doing reality checks, to make sure I'm still dreaming. Finger through palm/counting fingers fails, but, I'm able to breathe through a closed nose so, I determine I'm still sleeping. I go into this house where this fanclub for my favorite band is being held. I walk in and start talking to people. Not too much time passes and this girl walks in, a whole crowd forming around her, singing one of the band's biggest hits. More people surround her and I move into the crowd, singing along while she looks like she is in distress.
Time skip again and I'm in a hotel with someone else. I'm scrolling on a website where people upload inspiration/resource packs for lucid dreams. I search up my book and find a few that are animated. I click on one to try it out until I see a revised version, watching a preview of it and seeing how good it looks. I vividly remember the video saying that they apologize for how the fire looks like blood, as it's just red bloobs. I do my reality checks and all three fail, so, I try again, being able to breathe through my nose with it being closed, though, I'm still in a state of panic. I wake up.
I wish the website existed as I would totally use it if it was real. It basically allowed people to design the look of your lucid dream, so, in my case, I wanted it to look animated instead of realistic. I said "resource packs" because that was the closest thing I could relate them to, as you would have to "download" the look.
There were plenty of dream seeds as I had been thinking about my book and the band earlier. I was also on the forums earlier interacting so,, that might be where the "lucidity" came from. The hotel room is one I was in a few months ago. Also, the dream itself was a "lucid dream" through the eyes of my dream self, so, she was "aware" the whole time and was making sure to keep it stable by doing reality checks. This happened in a dream a few weeks ago, where I did a reality check to find out I was "lucid" through my dream self was the "lucid" one, not me.
Hope that wasn't too long, just felt like I had to explain a few things and wanted to add in my own reflections as well!
Last night I had a dream that my parents and my brother showed up at my house where my father had a large black truck that he purchased for me where I was going to pay him back for it. It was really large and it seemed to have more tires than it should have and at least two of them were blown. I commented on that but they didn’t seem to take much notice. As he was backing in it, there was a very slight slope and it started spinning, and I noted that it was only 2 wheel drive, so I was upset that it wasn’t all wheel drive….
I had a short and interesting lucid dream tonight. I was in my old class room and wanted to call someone with my mobile. Of course, it didn't work and I got a bit upset. I thought "okay, good that this is a dream at least."
I did a nose pinch test, went out of the room and everything was dark. Like every light was turned out. Before I watched at my digital clock I thought 'of course I will not see anything because it's too dark' and so it was. I could not see anything on the display. I tried the finger through palm test and thought 'my hands are made of rubber'. And so it was. I couldn't put my finger through the palm like it was made of very hard rubber.
I thought 'I surely will wake up from this dream now' and I woke up. 🤷
It was interesting to see that everything I believed happened.
Another non-lucid:
I'm watching a TV series. Something paranormal. Then I'm part of the cast, and then what happens is real. [dream sign: shift of dream reality] I'm on patrol with a group of people, we encounter some hostile beings that we fight with. We all get hurt, some of us pretty badly. The institute, which trains people with supernatural abilities like us, sends an ambulance that does not bring us to the hospital, but back to our dorm. Now it's evening. [dream sign: time jump] We sit around eating green olives and talking about one of our trainers, Miss Divier (pronounced like it's a french name): she is young, attractive, has short white-blonde hair and very pale turquoise eyes without pupils – a very intense gaze. A lot of us get our missions directly from her, and she's a tough taskmaster. She's always pressuring us to do better, be braver, be the best. [dream sign: high expectations] I have to go to the medical ward, a rare opportunity to be alone for a while. I hear voices: the head of the institute and Miss Divier. But her voice has a very strange, eerie vibe that makes the hair in my neck stand up. I peer around the corner and see them – the head and a strange, skeletal being that towers over him even though it's crouched down. It speaks and I realize that this is "Miss Divier" in her true form! Her human form is only an illusion. Here the dream ends.
No lucid, but at least my dream recall has improved in the last two days. There were a lot of short dreams that were pure daytime-residue.
I've been really focusing on my health and fitness lately (my balance has improved so much that I recently stopped using my walking cane), and I dream a lot about things related to that. Losing my Fitbit. Going to the gym (though I don't have a gym membership). Doing a dance workout and stumbling over my own feet. (Yep, that's realistic.) Stuff like that. Here is one of my more interesting non-lucids, though:
I'm a detective [dream sign: I have a LOT of dreams where I'm a detective] and part of a murder investigation. A teenaged boy has been murdered. [daytime residue: I've recently read a novel in which a 15-year old boy was murdered] We collect and exchange information, interrogate a lot of people, fill out loooooong questionnaires for every person relevant to the case. But the questions we have to answer don't all make sense, some seem strange and nonsensical to me. [dream sign: warped logic] For some reason, we don't use computers to fill out the paperwork, but write everything down on loose sheets of paper that we then fold and cut to bind thin pamphlets.
I have filled out the questionnaire for my first suspect, but I fail at binding the pamphlet, even though pamphlet stitch is as easy as it gets. [dream sign: failing to achieve a given task / also: this doesn't make sense because I'm pretty good at bookbinding] Somehow, I end up folding my questionnaire into a "fortune teller". I get nervous because I still have to fill out the questionnaires for 16 other suspects before the next team meeting. My partner is no help at all, he's just sitting there and telling me that we need to get this done ASAP, but he does not do anything, though he could also fill out some questionnaires. [dream sign: unhelpful allies]
I start filling out the next questionnaire and realize something about the suspect [day residue: she looks like the adoptive mother in "The Queen's Gambit"] that changes everything. But I decide to disregard it – I still have paperwork to fill out! [dream sign: illogical priorities]
Oh, interesting! I thought holding your breath was a way to wake yourself up from a dream! How do you use it as an RC? Finger through palm never works for me, but the last time I tried, I noticed that I had six fingers.
This has happened to me before, only in my case it wasn't a drawer but a cupboard. I wanted to turn the door into a portal, but when I opened it the first time, I saw only the cupboard behind it. The second try did the trick, but I've found that if I want to change bigger things like that in my dreams, I need to close my eyes, imagine the change and then open them again. I'm not at a level of dream control yet to have bigger things change while I look at them.
So, this may be a bit long, I apologize, but, I'm cursed with writing long form and long form only.
So this happened last night. I woke up in the middle of the night, like I usually do, and just stayed still, closing my eyes. I had a strong hypnopompic experience as soon as this happened, so, I opened my eyes again and decided to try a WILD. Unfortunately, I had to go to the bathroom (did a reality check during this to make sure I was actually awake) and had to move when I was trying to anchor (also had to stop my anchor attempt since my headphones started to die and I'm much more of a side sleeper). With that out of the way, let me tell you about my weird dreams.
Dream 1 - very short lived. I was outside between the deck and the cars in the driveway. I was confused about why I was outside, so I did a reality check since I was pretty sure I was dreaming. (Important note, I still do the counting fingers/finger through palm rc because it has worked for me before and has been working, but, I have been adding in holding my breath. It's just sometimes hard to do that.) Well, the reality check failed, meaning that I still felt pressure on my palm, but the finger did not go through. It did take me a quick second to make sure I had all five fingers on my hand. I looked around, seeing how real everything felt, before the dream ended, me still confused if it was a dream or not.
Dream 2 - the tied for the weirdest last night. It starts near a distorted landfill by our house. I'm with my father and stepmother and we're in/near this pond. My father shoots polluted water at me and I freak out, running away from him. These two people come up and offer to get me away from him and I take the offer, riding away and down the highway, that, in reality, exists, but definitely doesn't exist there. The male keeps pointing out different businesses while the female drives before I start feeling guilty and ask to get turned back around. They agree and I start to brace myself to get yelled at.
Dream 2.5 - very short, just did remember it. I'm at home and my father and stepmother are debating on what sport's memorabilia to sell off. They decide on this award for the Washington Football Team and the dream ends there.
Dream 3 - me, my cousin, and a few others are in this hotel room, I get separated so I go onto YouTube, seeing that a video by someone I commonly watch has been uploaded. The thumbnail looks weird, but, I click on it anyway and see that it's not their typical style (usuallyjust talking but this had a decent quality animation). The video topic was somewhat about butterflies, which has been a topic of their videos before, so I didn't find that part abnormal. Someone just randomly appears on top of the wall that was separating us and it appears to be a cross between a minecraft axolotl and a butterfly. The dream skips a bit and me and my cousin are messing around with the lights on, waiting for me aunt and my stepmother to come back. We turn off the lights as soon as we hear them coming back and we hide (in very open places, I swear my brain goes a bit stupid in dreams). We get found and the dream ends.
Dream 4 - a lucid-ish dream. I start in that same hotel room except its my house. My stepmother is acting very nice in a strange way and my dad is in that room where the axolotl/butterfly man had shown up in. I go to see him and he says he invited my ex-boyfriend over. Something had already seemed off so, I look out the door and see my "ex-boyfriend". I do a reality check and it fails again, though, I reflect this time. People don't look cartoonish in the real world, my dad would have no way of knowing how to invite him over, and my "ex-boyfriend" doesn't even look like my ex-boyfriend. I spark lucidity and go to my bedroom (which is my normal bedroom, somehow) and think that I want to give myself superspeed. I open up my sock drawer to get socks out (for tennis shoes so I can run better) and I think "hmm, I can just make a portal to my ex-boyfriend's house" since I wanted to sprint there. I close the drawer and open it again, seeing that it has changed a fair bit. Perfect. I close it, think it as a portal, and open it again, only to find that it isn't one. Repeat two more times and I wake up.
Sorry if it's long, just wanted to document my WBTB + WILD attempt as I think it could help someone. Even if your first dream isn't lucid, it doesn't mean that you won't spark lucidity later on. Even though my reality checks failed, I used the best reality check of them all (logic) to figure out that I was lucid. It's always good to reflect on past lucid dreams and current ones to figure out what you need to change or what is working. Like I said, sorry for long post (stream of consciousness) but, I hope this can help someone!
This happened almost 2 months ago but I'd love to share it.
After 1-2 months of journaling/RC's/immersing myself in the topic I had a short lived but fairly intense lucid dream. It was a WILD but I'm not sure what technique you'd call this, it was kind of a WBTB but without the wakeful period.
I first woke up from a non lucid dream and I was in this kind of half sleeping state but had lost the dream. I tried to hold myself there but I was seeing what my closed eyes were seeing (black) and could feel my body but I lay there with my eyes shut being stubborn about losing the dream. I just lay there and really focused on getting back into that dream (I would have sworn I've done this before years before knowing anything about lucid dreaming), I lay still and willed myself back to sleep with the dream super super fresh in my mind, replaying the last scene over and over (I was actually at a lunch with MrBeast - maybe a dream seed from one of Daniel's videos!!!) and I start to feel my body vibrating, that familiar sleep paralysis feeling that I've be scared of in the past but this time I let it send waves through my body and I started to lift forward out of my body in an upwards trajectory with no body attached! A galaxy of stars like I've never seen before faded into my view, it was a truely stunning and psychedelic hallucination/experience! I was floating around, still in my room, with minimal control of my body (I was just vision, I had no body but don't know what else to call it) and everything was dark but not pitch black. It was intense and overwhelming. I tried to will myself to a tropical beach (first thing that came to mind) to bring some light/colour and it worked, except everything was still dark as if the sun had just set. I could see dark palm trees but with no light, that's about it. I woke up feeling great!
This is something I'd love to try again if the situation pops up
This was a non-lucid. Because yeah, this dream totally makes sense and could absolutely be reality… (Thanks, brain.) Surprisingly, this had very few of my usual dream signs.
End of Days. Each day, the “deleters” make their rounds — there's debate: are they ghosts, aliens, or energy beings? — and literally erase a certain number of people from being. When it happens, their victims grow more and more translucent, until they are completely invisible, and a day or so before, they already disappear from photographs and documents.
That's why many people carry photographs of themselves, family and friends with them that they frantically check every couple of minutes. Who is it going to be next? Is it my time? Will my parents get deleted? My fiancé? My child? Other people don't want to know, because it's futile — even if I know that the deleters will come for me, I cannot change anything [dream sign: helplessness]. There are also conspiracy theorists (of course) who don't believe in any of it. They call it fake news or government cover-ups, claiming that the government is using this to get rid of political opponents. But I have seen people get deleted with my own eyes, this is real.
The deleters don't have a solid form. Sometimes they look like flares of light, sometimes like distortions in your vision, sometimes like image interference. Desperate humans have decided to hit them, shoot them, stab them, but it's to no avail, everything goes right through them.
I belong to a tight-knit group of friends, and of course we hope to all make it through this intact — but then the first of us disappear from photographs… I'm so scared [dream sign: fear of death], but life goes on like normal, because it has to. Nobody knows when or if this is going to end.
I'm walking through the city, frequently looking in every direction, waiting for it to happen to me. I wonder how I will meet my demise. Will I try to fight, though it's futile? A few times, I see specks of light and glitches in my perception from the corner of my eyes, but then I'm not brave enough to look too closely.
A short while ago, a young Indian woman has joined our circle of friends [dream sign: time distortion, she looks like my friend Manju looked 20 years ago]. She has invited me to her flat today, which is part of a huge residential complex. I've never been there, so inside I get lost a bit [dream sign: getting lost]. I see that many doors have signs that mark the flats as empty, because the owners have been deleted. A nice old lady shows me to the elevator, and on the way she explains her theory to me: she thinks that only people who have done bad things or who are planning to do bad things get deleted. She says she has witnessed that the deletion process of a man, who tried to negotiate with the beings to have them take somebody else instead of him, took much longer than usual and seemed painful.
Once I arrive at Manju's flat, I realize that her whole huge family has come for a visit, the flat is packed. Her blind uncle is talking about the deleters, and he is one of the people who completely deny that it is happening at all. The logic of his arguments is at the level of corona deniers or flat earthers. I try to explain that I myself have seen people get deleted, but he starts talking about the weight of the soul, and I don't know what that is supposed to prove.
At this point, my alarm wakes me up.
I dream that I live in an attic and look out the window. Lots of beautiful plants grow on the roof. I am concerned that this could clog the gutter. That's when I realize that it's not the roof I'm looking at at all. It's a kind of secret room that lies above my apartment. It is open on one side and the plants grow there. why have I never seen this before? When I wake up I know that I have dreamed of this room many years ago.
That is a dream I dreamed a few nichts ago.
Great discussion going on here. So I have a dream to share but I need to explain my technique I do to test my reality. It starts off with me being outside preferably at night. I take a deep breath and with a running start I leap into the air with the expectations to fly. For the few seconds I'm in the air I try to imagine not lading and to keep going up. Of course in my waking life I land each time. But I do it so much that it has become how I check my reality in a dream. (We all have our ways).
So I have a dream a few weeks ago. I'm outside my apartment at night. I am fully convinced that its my regular waking life but as always I take my "leap of faith". I do this fully expecting to land, but I dont! I keep going up. Now usually I say "Sweet, this is a dream, let me do my superman thing before I wake up." But this time I seriously thought I was still in my waking life and some how cracked a code. Lol I really thought I became Neo and after all these years of practice I became fully aware that there is no difference between my dream world and real world.
That's a different level of lucidity that I have never experienced. To become lucid within my waking life. I truly cannot explain the amount of excitement I felt. The crazy thing is I wasn't surprised. Its like I knew I always could do this. Next thing ya know I wake up. Very disappointed but every excited to have such a wonderful dream. I hope I have another one like that soon.
Thanks for reading!
Wow what an ending! Maybe they were laughing because they were happy to get away from the gun shots? I'm imagining it visually and its stunning. Thanks for sharing!
So the super short LD I had early this morning:
My wife was draining an aquarium (we don't have one) and I told her to stop because this one big blue fish (the only one in the tank) was on it's side gasping as it was out of the water. She got some water in from the hose for him to 'breathe' and then the tank was overflowing... we were outside on some raised platform or other... I told her to shut of the water and the valve came off in her hand, so I gathered up some hose and pinched it several times to try to stop the water. Then I thought "I think this is a dream" and did a quick nose pinch test. I did it too quickly though and it was inconclusive, but I knew it was a dream and jumped into the air, elated that I could fly and that it was an LD. I just went up 50 feet or so and looked around. Not sure where I was, there were various different buildings around and things started to fade. I landed and the dream was pretty much faded, and tried to concentrate on just seeing my hand to try to stabilize it, but it was gone. Still cool though :)
Last night was one of those "almost-lucids".
False awakening. I "wake up", hear noises from downstairs and think: burglars?! Even though my husband is not home [ he really is away for a couple of days, so that was daytime residue ], I loudly call for him, so that the burglars won't know I'm alone. I wait a couple of minutes, then I decide that I need to go check. I tiptoe from room to room – and discover that my husband is lying on the sofa in the livingroom, fast asleep. Briefly, I'm confused. Then I realize: ah, of course, this is a dream! Phew, what a relief, there are no burglars… Well, that's great, then I can go back to bed and get some more sleep! …and that's exactly what I do.
I want to kick my dream self so badly.
What an interesting dream! It could almost be the beginning of the plot of a movie.
Not necessarily a new dream (as it was from 2017), but, an interesting one to add, just because of what happened afterwards and the first appearance of a dream sign. Also, this is probably my most vivid dream that I've ever had. Sorry if it's a bit odd, as dreams are weird, but, just wanted to share this one since my most recent dreams have been boring.
I wake up in my bed (this is also kinda a dream sign now since, in my most recent LDs, I tend to wake up in my normal bed) and walk out into the living room. I notice my father and stepmother setting up something and I realize it's my birthday (hint, it wasn't, at least IRL). I get excited, but, since everything isn't set up yet for the party, I head back to my room before they call me back out, telling me that my grandmother is coming over. I go back to my room and time skips a bit.
My aforementioned grandmother is giving me two gifts - one a card and one a bag. I thank her and she tells me to open the bag in private, when the other two aren't around. I agree and take both gifts back to my room, opening the card first and finding $50. I open up the next gift and it's a red suit, which is strange, but, it's a dream after all. I hide the suit in a pile of stuff under my bed and start to watch YouTube from a flat screen above my door (the TV being in the corner but connected to both walls). My room is also double the size of it in real life and has white walls instead of a muted light blue.
The two in the living room call me back out, asking me what my grandmother gave me. I tell a half truth, saying that she gave me $50. They seem confused and ask why was that the only gift. I lie and say that she said she would bring over the other stuff later. They seem alright with the answer so I go back to my room to do what I was doing, however, I really want to put on the suit.
Time kinda skips more and more as I do put on the suit, feeling changes to me. I remember taking it on and off, hiding it as I would have to go back out into the living room or they would walk past my room. I almost seem manic and/or anxious trying to hide the suit, but, the more I wear it, the better it feels and the more I want to wear it. It felt like each time I wore it, I was changing who I was, and, by the time it ended, I was someone else completely. I can't recall the end of my dream completely, only the feelings, but d--- if I don't remember what happened when I woke up.
I woke up feeling very confused. I didn't seem to fully recognize where I was, but, everything felt familiar. I stay in my bed for a few minutes, trying to jog my memory, but, it's only confusing me more. I go to the bathroom, and, when looking in the mirror, I didn't seem to recognize myself. I don't remember if I clearly saw myself or the person who I became in the dream in the mirror, but, it was confusing. I headed back to my bed and, after a few minutes, I was back to myself. The whole ordeal was probably between 5-10 minutes at most, but, it's been 4 years since, so, my brain may be tripping on tiny details. This is the only time that this has happened to me after waking up from a dream.
The first real dream sign is being another person, as, my more vivid and memorable dreams I am different people in them. My second, kinda dream sign is waking up in my bed, since nowadays, most LDs start from there. Both have been a pattern since I've started trying to lucid dream, but, they were less frequent before.
Dream seeds incase anyone is curious - I fell asleep watching a music video over and over again after it came out at midnight. Everyone was trying to find the person who I was in the dream, since, he makes cameos in music videos for the band that had published it, though he wasn't in the band. He wore a red suit at the time. Also, he was not in the music video.
Ha true! For some reason I believe in the dream I was thinking they could go so I could get rid of them, even though in real life I really like both of them... odd!
Ha nice example of false awakenings!
Ok, here's an example of my dreams, they are often pretty "out there" - here's one from last night:
My wife and I were in a basement-level room of our house (I guess, didn't look at all like our house but my dream brain was fine with it) with a largish window that would open ground level so you could crawl out. I knew somehow that through that window was a different world. Suddenly a couple of friends from work were there and they wanted to go out the window, so I opened it and out they went. When I closed it we wondered if maybe time passed differently on that other world and saw snow piled up against the window. I opened it and a lot of time had passed there, and one of my friends came back through dressed differently with a large backpack, and two strangers came through with him (they were from that other world). I was concerned that my friend know that they couldn't stay with us...
Nobody here who wants to share their dreams? Come on, Oneironauts! 👽
Here's a short LD I had on the 13th:
I'm part of a production of the musical "Starmania" by Michel Berger, playing the role of the robotic waitress Marie-Jeanne – though I cannot sing. The day of the premiere, I start to panic: what am I doing here?! I go on stage for the dress rehearsal and, to my own surprise, I perfectly sing "Stone, le Monde est Stone" – in French! [ Dream sign: clash with RL abilities; in waking life, my French is not that good. I used to listen to "Starmania" a lot when I was 17 or 18, but I didn't know that my brain could still recall the complete lyrics to one of the songs! If you want to listen to the song, search for "Luce Dufault - The World is Stone, Starmania Tycoon 1994" on Youtube for an english version, and "Le Monde est Stone (Rejane Pérry -Starmania)" for a french version. ]
After rehearsal, I put away my costume, which looks like it was designed for a Disney villain. Up until this point, the dream was pretty long but not lucid at all. I decide to take a quick nap before the actual show starts. … Wait. Nap? …sleep? There's something not right about that.
Dream and reality mix. Suddenly, I know why the thought of taking a quick nap seemed so weird – because I'm already asleep. The dreamscape jumps and flickers. I briefly see my real bedroom through the dream images, and I know: this is the place where my real body is sleeping.
[ Of course, I did not REALLY see that – I'm wearing a sleep mask at night. Just part of the dream. ]
I feel an odd sensation of letting go. I wake up. For a few seconds, I don't remember the dream at all. I get up, go to my bedroom door and open it… And behind it is the elaborate stage set for the Underground Café.
[ One of the locations in the musical. ]
…ah. False awakening. Right. I'm in a dream!
I enter the stage and look down into the empty auditorium, and the dreamscape flickers again. I see the details of the stage set in a series of quick snapshots, I don't even have time to process it and do a reality test.
Aaaaaand that's when I'm awoken by the alarm I'd set for an WBTB attempt.
[ Daaaaaamn. ]
I'm so confused. I get up, stumble to my feet, don't really know where I am. I open the door and briefly expect to see the Underground Café behind it, but there's just an ordinary floor. I think: oh, that's right. I'm in Vallendar.
[ I haven't lived in Vallendar since 2009. ]
Wait, no… That's NOT right. I honestly feel like I'm in a place I've never been in before, and it takes a while before I snap into the here and now. In retrospect, I think I should've stayed in bed and tried a DEILD, but I was too befuddled for that.
The lucid part can't have taken more time than maybe half a minute.
Before setting the alarm, I'd tried to figure out the most likely time when REM would hit, using my notes. Well, apparently, my calculations were off, but not by a lot.
And one of my recent favorites:
I'm a woman who thinks she's a cat. In a way, I am her and I really feel like a cat, and at the same time, I'm looking at myself from the outside and realize that I'm human. In any case, I'm part of some type of cat cult that's ruling my whole life. I do something that I was never allowed or able to do before – I don't even know what it is, but I'm proud of myself. The elders tell me I need to do it differently to follow the rules, but I insist I'll do what I think is best. Then I just hightail it out of there. Get it? Hightail?
And another one! Recently, I've had lots of dreams where I'm some kind of detective or investigator – not always a successful one, though.
I'm sneaking around with a bunch of people. We are investigators in training. We practise stealth, camouflage, several tactics to stay hidden. But we are all bumbling around like complete incompetents. [ dream sign: failure to fulfill expectations ] We have reached a stage of the program where we are given small tasks for actual open cases. Some of us go undercover in certain companies, others tail persons of interest. In large groups. We look like kindergarden classes trying to be inconspicuous.
S., an actual RL friend of mine is one of our trainers. He leads the whole group I've been assigned to to a big office building that we're supposed to infiltrate. It's the middle of the day, the sun is shining golden and bright [ dream sign: light different than in waking life ], the building has floor-lenght windows that office workers are curiously looking at us from. I ask S. if he is sure that this is really the best time to do this? He says not to worry, it'll be alright because we have our camouflage hats. He takes an ordinary black cap from his pocket and puts it on, smiling at me proudly. I'm speechless.
Scene change: training is over for today, I've just taken a shower. There are a LOT of shower stalls, we must be many trainees! I enter one of the changing rooms and immediatly feel insecure and ashamed. The cubicle is made from slotted plastic slabs which fail to slot properly. There are a lot of gaps and I see that people are watching me through them, pointing and grinning. [ dream sign: embarassment ] I fumble to get dressed and realize that I've lost the bag somewhere that each of us was given, with shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant and other necessities. [ dream sign: failure ]
