A new space for dreamers, oneironauts, and mind explorers.
It has taken a while to put together, but I'm proud to announce that, finally, our brand new lucid dreaming forum is live and open to the public!
For the longest time I've wanted to create an online community for lucid dreamers where we could share our experiences, knowledge, and adventures; a space that was for lucid dreamers, by lucid dreamers.
Lucid dreaming has always been a grass-root subject, it is the community of dreamers that has pioneered almost all of the major discoveries in this field. The community is also the very best means to keep the subject in order. It is through this wisdom-of-the-crowd that we have staved off countless attempts by companies and marketers looking to hijack lucid dreaming and promote misinformation.
The Lucid Forum follows in this tradition and offers a brand new space for the community to thrive. With this in mind, I want to let the forum grow organically and according to your needs. While the forum will be moderated, it will be done so with the lightest of possible touch, holding firmly to the principles of free speech. It is this free marketplace of ideas that has always been our strongest means to grow, discover, and push the field forward.
Your Space, Your Ideas
While there are other great forums out there, such as Reddit, DreamViews and others (all of which I highly recommend). I felt it was time for something new.
Each space has its benefits and weaknesses. Reddit, while great, suffers from a voting system that means even the best ideas are quickly buried under a constant wave of new posts.
Older forum such as DreamViews are wonderful but aren't particularly smart-phone friendly, as such they have seen a decline in popularity since the advent of spaces such as Facebook and other forms of social media.
The Lucid Forum will hopefully address both these issues. The forum runs smoothly on your phone and the very best posts will be awarded an upgrade to become a permanent official article on The Lucid Guide website.
I want The Lucid Forum to reward quality ideas and content. The more we work together to share our well considered knowledge, the sooner lucid dreaming will advance.
Lucid Dreaming Competition
To help motivate you to take part in the inevitable quieter phase at the birth of a new forum, I have decided to run a competition to inspire you to help build this space. The details of the competition are outlined in the video below.
I'm considering running various yearly competitions, with (hopefully) some genuinely awesome prizes in the long run. So if that's something you'd like to see, let me know in the comments or forum.
Many More Changes
You'll also notice many more changes to the site as the forum grows. There will be incremental updates to the forum interface and functionality, as and when they can be implemented. You'll also notice that your forum login acts as a membership to all the services offered on The Lucid Guide, so it's a great way to keep everything in order.
The keen eyed among you will have also spotted that even this very article system has seen a makeover. This combined with the other updates also allows for even more possibilities.
Please bear with me while I complete the transfer from the old system to the new. Each article on the old system is having to be manually transferred, so things will be a little out of chronological order while I complete this process.
Become an Official Lucid Guide Writer
Those of you who share constantly high quality forum posts will also have the chance to become a writer for the site itself. Something that is now considerably easier to implement with the membership system. If that's something that interests you, please feel free to drop me a line and I'll keep a keen eye on your forum posts!
Lucid Dreaming Events
As the community grows, I'm hoping that eventually we'll be in a position to organise some real-world community gatherings. As the passionate grass-roots of the lucid dreaming community, it would be lovely to find new and fun ways for us all to interact and share our experiences. Again, if that's something that appeals, let me know in the comments.
For now, we have a new space and a head full of dreams. Let's share our knowledge with the world and help put lucid dreaming on the right track. Let's put honestly, knowledge, fun and decency as our founding ideals and work towards making lucid dreaming a subject we can be proud to share.
