Hi All,
I've been struggling with my dream-sign reality checks, recently because of lockdown restricting my movements but i think it's something that's always been the case for me that I just don't see them in waking life and annoyingly, sometimes I don't realise they are right in front of me.
Has anyone got any tips on staying motivated and really drilling them into my brain? I suspect 'concentrate more' will be the answer but interested if anyone has their own method to overcome this?
When i do reality checks, i pause, and clear my mind, and really ask if i'm dreaming. I have to let the question flood my head and dont think about anything else. I do an RC everytime i watch a dreamsign, or when i realize that im daydreaming. Now, in my opinion, do not stress yourself with rc, because quality is better than quantity.
When you're not rc'ing try to be aware of your surroundings once in a while. Like Daniel said, you cannot bruteforce lucid dreaming, so if you put too much stress in any of the processes to achieve lucidity you will burn out.
Hope it helps.
Have you made a list of your dream-signs? Mine are also related to some locations, but also things like food, persons or memories. Maybe when thinking about those locations or related subjects do a bit of mapping your DS's (like dog example of Daniels video) while taking in the ambience that come with those situations. I've DS like my fathers house, or swimming pools. When I'm talking to my dad I could think of his home, or do a RC when I'm there off course. Or when I see people swimming in a movie or something or talking about swimming I could do a RC. Or taking a short glance over the list before sleep. So you remember more and more signs, and when something related is there during the day, you can RC (also helps prospective memory I guess) When I'm doing something routine like, it's especially an autopilot mode. Like something in the household. I can zoom out, and watch my hands doing this, like an observer. I feel my heartbeat, my eyes focussing in and out, and look around, taking a deep breath. Like waking from autopilot as if it's a dream. So sort of meditating when doing something (and not sitting still buddhastyle) but yeah, this is a sort of mindfulness I guess, playing with sense awareness while doing something
mine is a little like concentrate more but, I would recomend takeing moments to step back and look for dream signs and trace your steps from now to morrning and think of things you did earlier in the week look for dream signs that you missed and try to catch yourself next time. for motavation I kind of have a problem with that for WILDs but I wish I could help there.
